The 2020 PGA National Championships presented by Diners Club was held at the Centurion Country Club and Residential Estate from the 17th – 19th of November 2020.
The 54 hole event was scheduled for the month of May but due to the global pandemic the event was successfully held with strict GolfRSA Covid regulations. PGA Professionals from across South Africa gathered to test there skills against each other and a field of 100 strong entered for the event. The National Championship is an event where the qualified PGA members play competitively against each other but it also has an element of huge camaraderie where ideas are shared with colleagues to grow the game of golf.
Centurion Country Club was in spectacular condition and PGA Professional Stuart Smith came firing on the first day to post a great score of 68 and he kept his foot on the accelerator and he held the lead for the duration of the event. The former Sunshine Tour professional finished the tournament on 11 under par and took the spoils from second place finisher Greg Jacobs.
Diners Club has supported the PGA National Championship as presenting sponsor now for numerous years and a big thank you to the team at Diner Club and specifically Hester Hahn who has been the cornerstone of the support from the sponsor.
Well done to all of the winners and we look forward the 2021 PGA National Championship that will be hosted by Humewood Golf Club
