What an amazing venue Humewood Golf Club was for the 2021 PGA Professional Championship presented by Diners Club South Africa.
The weather played along nicely and the 54 hole event went off without any major weather delays , even though there was some weather predicted for the week.
The events kicks of with a Pro Am on the monday where 1 PGA Professional was teamed up with an amateur in a betterball stableford format. Congratulations to all the winners on the day.
Day 1 of the tournament round was met with some tough windy conditions and the scoring of the players showed that Humewood shows its teeth best during those conditions. MS Calitz was able to manage the challenging conditions and posted a 3 under par 69 for the first day. A prestine day on tuesday meant that the course played slightly easier and Greg Upton was able finish with the best round to score of 67. The spoils belonged though to Stuart Smith who defended his 2020 title in style. His final round 66 secured the win and he finished the tournement on 10 under par , which was a fantastic effort considering the conditions throughout the tournament. Madeleen Grosskopf carried away the title of the PGA Professional ladies title which was only played for the second time since its introduction to the tournament last year.
Well done to all the winners. A huge thank you must go to Diners Club South Africa who has supported this event for the past 9 years and to Humewood Golf Club on hosting an incredible event. See you next year.
