What led you to becoming a PGA Professional?

By the time I completed my B Com Accounting degree I realised that golf would either be my career in playing it, or working within the industry. This amazing game has made it possible for me to ensure that my passion can be transferred to other golfers through teaching and customer service. |
How long have you been in your current position?

I have occupied the Head Professional position for 8 years and the management role for just under three years |
What does your job entail?
|
Ensuring that the golfers Gate to Gate experience is exceptional, believing that all lives are changed through this amazing game. My daily duties include HOD meetings, marketing, sponsorship, financial controls and ensure the playability of the golf course exceeds expectations. Let me not forget that I give lessons as well. |
Do you have any environmental or sustainability goals that you have met and would like to share?

We are always focused on reducing our footprint on the world. We are now focused on renewable energy and will be installing solar to ensure we reduce our load by up to 85%. The club still continues to use grey water for the golf course and has reduced the use of chemicals with advancement in fertiliser solutions.
Humewood is much more sustainable now than a couple of years ago. We have ensured that all revenue streams are improved, opening the golf club up to all society. The new business plan has been well received and will ensure Humewood is on its way to recovery. New membership structure has:

Please give us a brief outline of the path you took to lead you to your current position | As discussed above, our current plan is growing all revenue streams. Ensuring the course is in championship condition all year round

Why do you feel that you would be a good candidate to win this award?
|
I don’t believe in floating my own boat. Our success over the last two years has been a team effort. Without the staff buying into our strategy, the success would not have been possible. |
