Michael Balderstone

Michael turned Professional in 1994 aged 21 and graduated from the elite PGA training school at Kingston University in London with the full PGA qualification. He remains a member of the PGA of GB & Ireland, as well as a proud member of the PGA of South Africa.

Three years were spent as Head Teaching Professional at Langton Park CC in Leicestershire, followed by a year of coaching in Sandwich, Kent.

In 1998 Michael moved to South Africa, spending three years in Port Elizabeth.  During that time Michael became the coach of the Eastern Province junior provincial teams and coach to a number of national junior team members.

In 2001 Michael moved to Johannesburg, becoming a director of the teaching academy at the World Of Golf.  Michael continued to coach players to the highest level with international amateurs and tour professionals from South Africa, Europe and USA.

In 2002 Michael took up the position of Director of Teaching with the Julian Krinsky School of Golf in America.  This position gave Michael valuable experience at academies in Boston, Chicago and Philadelphia.

In January 2004 Michael founded The Golf School of Excellence (TGSE), offering the first full-time holistic elite golf training in South Africa.  TGSE has evolved into offering education programmes from high school to diploma level, alongside the elite training.  Michael current fulfils the roles of Managing Director and Performance Director.

Michael has been heavily involved with the PGA of South Africa for many years, serving as a tutor and assessor on the apprentice programme since 2006, as well as serving as a board member at regional and national level.  Michael has been awarded Advanced Fellow status by the PGA of South Africa.
